Streamers are usually on the air for 10-12 hours a day (just like us while streaming news on russian radio).

Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook provide streamers with several ways to monetize their broadcasts: advertising, donations, and paid subscriptions.

Donations are donations from the audience to the streamer. They are tax-free and can be of any size. Sometimes streamers motivate users by setting a specific goal - for example, asking them to send money for a powerful gaming computer or a new camera.

A paid subscription is an opportunity for the viewer to receive bonuses and additional interaction with the streamer for a monthly fee. For example, Twitch offers three subscription options: $4.99, $9.99 and $24.99.

Commercial streaming

Commercial streaming is streaming on demand for companies that buy advertising. You can show a video insert with advertising during the broadcast or hold fully affiliate broadcasts, which are devoted to the selected game - for example, the streamer can show its demo version and share his impressions.

Embedded advertising - if the streams have a lot of viewers, Twitch or another platform itself complements the stream with advertising. The more people see it, the more the streamer will earn.

Direct advertising - Streamers with a large number of subscribers, as well as bloggers, become interesting to advertisers. The streamer can speak advertising during the broadcast or install an advertising banner on the stream or in the profile description.

Initially, a significant share of advertising came from manufacturers of computer accessories. But now, other brands are advertising on live-streaming platforms, from real estate and cars to consumer goods.

  • In September 2020, fashion brand Burberry held a show of its new clothing collection on Twitch - it was streamed by four channels at once, showing the collection from different angles. The online show was watched by 42 thousand people.
  • In November 2021, Pringles created West of Dead, a zombie cowboy who loves chips. The show was one of the top ten most watched shows in the U.K., and Pringles' share of customers grew by almost 14%. It won the Drum Awards for Content 2021.
